White and Pink Spotted Orchid Barrette/Brooch

I love orchids! So I had to try to make an orchid barrette. I had to stare at a calendar of flowers, since the month of February had orchids.

The orchid is sewn by hand with 30% wool nylon blend felt, and is beaded with pink glass beads.
I think I need to make one in leather soon!

Burgundy Disco Ball Barrette/Brooch with Sequins

This barrette was my little experiment! I have these sequins from this craft bag that I bought from a thrift store, so I decided to make a disco ball centered barrette/brooch! I figured this is a crazy thing to wear on the head, but it's so fun! And it reflects light just like a disco ball.

I'm excited to have this barrette featured on craftgawker! http://craftgawker.com/post/2010/02/26/12783/

Spiky Rose Barrette in Burgundy

I have a ton of black bugle seed beads left over from a fashion show I did, so I'm putting them all into my barrettes! This flower is handsewn with wool felt, and the center is beaded with those glass beads, making it "spiky"!

Burgundy Leaf with Embroidered Gold Barrette

This barrette is made with wool felt, and is embroidered by hand with chain stitches in gold metallic thread. I'm fascinated with leaf veins!

First Blog Post and my Sunflower Barrette!

Hi everyone! So I decided to start a blog to post my creations, and my endeavors to get my barrettes in stores!

Above is one of my barrettes. I should also make it a pin though, not everyone wants to wear a huge sunflower on their head.

The flower petals are made of wool/nylon felt, and the center is a snake pattern stamped onto cow leather.

Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers (next to orchids). I grow them every spring at my parents house, and in the summer they are so huge and beautiful! I recently got a neighborhood garden plot, so I'm excited to start growing sunflowers their too.
